Filter and search conversations
The Conversations page in the Olvio admin lists the conversations shoppers had with Olvio, newest first. Use the tabs to narrow the list by outcome or by where the conversation happened, and the search to find a question or a product.
Open the Conversations page
Click Conversations in the app menu. The app menu shows it once you've chosen a plan.
The list covers your 500 most recent conversations, 50 per page. Each row shows:
Date: the date and time the conversation started.
Customer question: the shopper's first message, cut after 80 characters. It reads (empty) when the conversation has no shopper message. For an Advisor conversation, this is usually the label of the chip whose link the shopper opened (its Chip label), which Olvio sends as the first message, so several Advisor rows can show the same text.
Product: for a product page conversation, the product the shopper was viewing. If that product is no longer in Olvio's copy of your catalog, its Shopify product ID appears in gray instead. For an Advisor conversation, the column shows
#__advisor__.Messages: the number of messages, shopper and AI together.
Added to cart: a cart icon when the conversation counts as added to cart, otherwise a dash.
Outcome: the amount of the matching orders when the conversation converted, otherwise a dash.
When a conversation grows past 20 messages, Olvio keeps only the most recent ones (the last 20 in the product page chat). Customer question then shows the earliest shopper message still kept, the search looks at that message, and Messages counts only the messages kept.
Within a shopper session, Olvio adds Advisor messages to the same conversation. When a returning shopper opens an Advisor link and Olvio finds their earlier Advisor conversation, the Advisor asks whether to Continue or Start over. Continuing adds the new messages to the earlier conversation, which keeps its original date and place in the list. Starting over begins a new conversation and keeps the earlier one as a separate row.
If no shopper has chatted with Olvio yet, the page shows No conversations yet instead of the list.
The filter tabs
The tabs at the top of the list narrow it down:
All: every conversation in the list. The number next to it counts all the conversations Olvio still keeps for your store, including those older than the 500 most recent.
Added to cart: a product was added to the cart in the same shopper session within 7 days before or after the conversation started, on a product page that shows Olvio's chat, either from the chat or with your theme's add-to-cart button. An add-to-cart made before this conversation counts only if the shopper had already chatted with Olvio before making it. Add-to-carts on other pages aren't detected, and adding a product from an Olvio Advisor product card is detected only on a product page that shows Olvio's chat. If your theme's add-to-cart button submits a form that loads a new page, instead of adding the product in the background, the add-to-cart isn't detected either. Converted conversations always count as added to cart.
Converted: an online store order from the same shopper session was placed within 7 days before or after the conversation started. An order placed before the conversation counts only if the shopper had already chatted with Olvio earlier with the same cart.
Product page: conversations in the chat on your product pages.
Advisor: conversations in Olvio Advisor, available on the Growth and Scale plans.
An add-to-cart or order made before a conversation also counts only if that conversation uses the same anonymous session ID as the shopper's earlier chat. The widget usually picks that ID up again from the cart or from the shopper's browser, where it's saved for later visits only when Shopify's customer privacy tools are active on the page and allow analytics for that shopper (for example, after they accept your cookie banner, or where your settings don't require consent). When neither has it, for example on another device, the new conversation gets a new ID and the earlier add-to-cart or order doesn't count.
The 7-day window is fixed. For how orders are matched to conversations, see How conversion attribution works.
Selecting a tab keeps your current search.
Search conversations
Click the search icon next to the tabs.
Type a word, or part of a word, in the Search questions or product field.
The list updates a moment after you stop typing. You don't need to press Enter.
The search looks in two places: the shopper's first message (the Customer question column) and the product title. It ignores upper and lower case and matches part of a word, so wash also finds washing. It doesn't search the AI's replies or the shopper's later messages. Advisor conversations aren't linked to a product, so the search only looks at their first message, which is usually the chip label.
The tabs are hidden while the search field is open. To search within a tab, select the tab first, then open the search.
Cancel closes the search field but keeps your search applied. To see every conversation again, open the search, clear the field and click Cancel, then select All.
If nothing matches, the list shows No conversations match.
Pagination
When the list holds more than 50 conversations, previous and next arrows appear below it, with the current page shown as, for example, Page 2 of 4. Changing the tab or the search takes you back to the first page.
The 500-conversation window
The tabs, the search and the pages only cover your 500 most recent conversations. Older conversations stay stored until they reach the end of your plan's conversation history, but they don't appear in the list.
To reach them, open any conversation and use the arrows at the top of its page. They move through all your stored conversations, not only the 500 in the list.
Conversation history depends on your plan:
Starter: 30 days
Growth: 90 days
Scale: 365 days
Conversations older than that are deleted automatically. Add-to-cart and order records are deleted after 90 days on every plan. Once they're gone, a conversation loses its Added to cart and Converted marks and its Outcome amount, which mostly affects older conversations on the Scale plan.
Switch to the Unanswered tab
At the top of the page, the Conversations and Unanswered tabs switch between this list and the product questions Olvio couldn't answer. When there are unanswered questions, a badge on Unanswered shows how many. See Find and fix knowledge gaps on the Unanswered tab.
The Customer question map
Above the list, the Customer question map card groups the questions shoppers asked in the chat on your product pages over the last 30 days into themes. Until your store has 100 conversations, the card shows how many more are needed. After that, the map also needs enough different questions from the last 30 days. To learn how to read it, see Customer question map: see what shoppers ask about.
Open a conversation
Click a row to open the conversation. Its page shows:
Conversation: the messages between the shopper and Olvio. Once a conversation grows past 20 messages, Olvio keeps only the most recent ones, so the transcript starts partway through. Before saving, Olvio replaces email addresses, API keys and similar secrets, and numbers that look like phone, card or ID numbers with placeholders:
[email redacted],[secret redacted],[phone redacted],[card redacted]and[id redacted]. Other long numbers, such as a tracking number, a product barcode or a date like2026-09-13, can be masked too. This also applies to Olvio's replies, so your store's own email address or phone number can appear masked. Other personal details, such as names or street addresses, aren't detected and can remain in the transcript.Details: when the conversation started, the product (linked to its page on your store when it's still in your catalog), and the number of shopper messages and AI replies.
Outcome: Added to cart and Converted, each marked Yes or No. For a converted conversation, it also shows the Revenue of the matching orders when it's above zero, and an Order link that opens one of those orders in your Shopify admin.
The left and right arrows at the top of the page move to the newer and older conversation. They ignore the tab and search you used on the list. The back arrow next to the title returns to the full list, without your tab or search.
