Switch between monthly and yearly billing
Every Olvio plan (Starter, Growth and Scale) can be billed monthly or yearly. Yearly billing costs about 20% less than twelve monthly payments. You choose your billing on the Plans page when you first subscribe, and you can switch later from the same page, as long as your plan covers your catalog. Your plan's features are the same with either billing.
Monthly and yearly prices
Plan | Monthly | Monthly × 12 | Yearly | Yearly, per month | Yearly saving |
Starter | $49 | $588 | $470 | $39 | $118 (20%) |
Growth | $99 | $1,188 | $950 | $79 | $238 (20%) |
Scale | $249 | $2,988 | $2,390 | $199 | $598 (20%) |
Prices are in US dollars, before any applicable taxes. Monthly billing charges you every 30 days, and yearly billing charges you once a year. On the Plans page, the per-month amount for yearly billing is the yearly price divided by 12, rounded down to the dollar.
Change your billing
In the Olvio admin, open Plans.
In the toggle above the plan cards, click Monthly or Yearly · Save 20%. Every card updates to that billing. With yearly selected, each card shows the price per month and the yearly total, for example Billed $470 annually on Starter.
On your plan's card, click Switch to yearly or Switch to monthly.
Shopify's approval page opens. Review the charge, then approve it.
The toggle starts on the billing you pay today. While it shows that billing, your plan's card has the Current badge and a disabled Current plan button.
To change your plan and your billing in one step, select the billing first, then click the switch button on the other plan's card, for example Switch to Growth. See Upgrade or downgrade your plan.
If the switch can't start, Olvio shows the message Unable to start the subscription flow. Please try again. and your subscription stays as it is.
What happens when you switch
When you click the switch button, Olvio creates a new subscription for your plan with the new billing. After you approve it, Shopify replaces your current subscription: right away when you move from monthly to yearly, or, once your free trial has ended, at the end of your yearly cycle when you move from yearly to monthly (see below).
If you decline or leave Shopify's approval page, nothing changes: your current subscription and billing stay as they are.
The new subscription is named after your plan, with
(Yearly)added for yearly billing, for exampleOlvio Growth (Yearly).Switching billing alone never changes your plan, so your features, product limit and conversation history stay the same.
Shopify, not Olvio, works out what you pay during the change, including any pro-rating. Olvio's charges appear in your Shopify admin under Settings → Billing.
Monthly to yearly
When you move from monthly to yearly billing, Shopify replaces your monthly subscription as soon as you approve the new one, and your yearly billing starts then.
Olvio records your new billing as soon as Shopify confirms it, which usually takes a few seconds. From then on, the Plans page opens on Yearly · Save 20%, and your plan's card shows Current plan.
If the Plans page still shows your old billing a few seconds after you come back from Shopify, open another page of the Olvio admin, then open Plans again. Don't click the switch button a second time: that opens Shopify's approval page for a new charge.
Yearly to monthly
Once your free trial has ended, when you move from yearly to monthly billing, Shopify doesn't replace your yearly subscription right away. Your yearly subscription stays in place until the end of its current yearly cycle, and monthly billing starts after that. If you're still in your free trial, see Free trial and billing below.
After you approve, the Plans page can keep showing your yearly billing with the Current plan button. Don't click Switch to monthly again: each click creates another subscription for you to approve.
Shopify applies the same rule when you move from a yearly subscription to a monthly subscription on another plan, and when you move to a cheaper yearly plan. If you expect to change plans soon, keep this in mind before you choose yearly billing.
Free trial and billing
Whenever your store has no active plan, the same toggle is on the Plans page. To start on yearly billing, select Yearly · Save 20%, then click Start 14-day trial on the plan you want. Your first subscription includes the 14-day free trial with either billing. If your store has already used its free trial, the button reads Subscribe to followed by the plan name, for example Subscribe to Growth, and charges start when you approve.
If you switch from monthly to yearly during your 14-day free trial, the yearly subscription has no trial days: you're charged when you approve it, and you lose the rest of your trial. If you started your trial on yearly billing, Shopify may not apply a switch to monthly right away, so choose the billing you want to keep before you start your trial. Switching later never gives you a new trial. See Your 14-day free trial explained.
If your card shows Catalog too large
If your store has more products than your plan includes, your plan's card shows a disabled Catalog too large button when the other billing is selected, so you can't switch billing on that plan. You can move to a plan that covers your catalog instead. Olvio still syncs every product and answers questions about all of them. See Plans page problems: activation stuck or 'Catalog too large'.
Monthly or yearly?
Monthly suits you if:
You're still evaluating Olvio and want a short commitment.
You expect to change plans soon. Changes between monthly subscriptions apply as soon as you approve them.
You'd rather pay every 30 days than pay for a full year up front.
Yearly suits you if:
You plan to keep Olvio for at least a year, on the same plan or a bigger one.
You want the saving, for example $238 a year on Growth.
You prefer one charge a year to a charge every 30 days.
Olvio's subscription fees are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. If you uninstall Olvio during a yearly cycle, you aren't refunded for the rest of the year. See Cancel your subscription by uninstalling Olvio.
