Your 14-day free trial explained
Your first Olvio subscription includes a 14-day free trial on Starter, Growth, or Scale. Shopify handles the billing, and you aren't charged for Olvio during the trial unless you switch plans, or between monthly and yearly, and the switch takes effect during it (see below).
Before you start your trial
Until you choose a plan, the Olvio admin only shows the Plans page, the widget stays hidden on your storefront, and Olvio doesn't import your catalog. Your trial doesn't start during this time: it starts on the day you approve a subscription in Shopify.
Start your trial
Open Olvio from your Shopify admin. Until you choose a plan, Olvio opens on the Plans page automatically, under the heading Start your 14-day free trial.
Choose Monthly or Yearly · Save 20%.
On the plan you want, click Start 14-day trial.
Shopify opens its page to approve the subscription. Approve it to continue.
Shopify brings you back to Plans. If Shopify hasn't confirmed your subscription yet, the banner Activating your subscription… shows and the page updates on its own.
When the page heading reads You're on the Growth plan (with the name of your plan), your trial has started. A banner with the same title and the message Your subscription is active. Shopify handles the billing from here. may show for a moment. Your free trial is still running, and you aren't charged until it ends.
If Shopify hasn't confirmed after about 30 seconds, the banner Activation is taking longer than expected appears with a Refresh status button. See Plans page problems: activation stuck or 'Catalog too large'.
A plan whose product limit is lower than the number of products in your store is grayed out, and its button reads Catalog too large. Choose a plan that covers your catalog.
If you leave Shopify's approval page without approving, Olvio stays inactive, your trial isn't used, and you can choose a plan again.
If Olvio shows the error Unable to start the subscription flow. Please try again. after you click a plan's button, click the button again.
What the trial includes
During the trial, Olvio runs with the features and limits of the plan you chose, such as conversation history, widget languages, knowledge files and web pages, and Olvio Advisor on Growth and Scale. Choose the plan you expect to keep, because a later plan switch doesn't come with a new free trial (see below). To compare plans, see Compare Starter, Growth, and Scale plans.
Once your trial starts, Olvio imports your Shopify catalog in the background. To get Olvio answering shoppers, follow Your setup guide: get Olvio ready for your first customer.
Your Anthropic usage is billed separately
Olvio generates answers with your own Anthropic API key. The free trial covers your Olvio plan only: Anthropic bills you directly for the API usage during and after the trial, at its API pricing. See What uses your Anthropic API key, and what doesn't.
When the trial ends
Your trial lasts 14 days from the day you approve the subscription. Olvio doesn't show a countdown in its admin.
If you keep Olvio, you don't need to do anything: Olvio keeps running, and billing for your plan starts when the trial ends. Monthly plans are billed every 30 days and yearly plans once a year. Olvio's charges appear on your Shopify bill, which you can check in your Shopify admin under Settings → Billing. Shopify Partner development stores are never billed for Olvio: an Olvio subscription on a development store is always a test charge.
If you haven't switched plans, or between monthly and yearly, during your trial, uninstall Olvio before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Olvio has no cancel button of its own: in your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and uninstall Olvio. When the Plans page says you can cancel anytime from Shopify, this is how: uninstalling Olvio cancels the subscription. Uninstalling ends your trial, and the widget stops showing on your storefront. About 48 hours after you uninstall, Olvio permanently deletes your store's data. If you reinstall before then, the free trial isn't offered again: the Plans page heading reads Choose your plan, and charges start as soon as you approve a plan. See What happens to my data when I uninstall Olvio.
When the free trial doesn't apply
The free trial comes with your first subscription. Switching plans doesn't give you a new one. The Plans page reminds you of this under the plans.
Your trial counts as used as soon as your first subscription is active.
If you switch to another plan, or between monthly and yearly, Olvio creates the new subscription with no free trial days, so it's billable as soon as the switch takes effect, even during your first 14 days. When you don't have an active plan, the Plans page heading shows whether your next subscription includes a free trial: it reads Start your 14-day free trial if it does, and Choose your plan if it doesn't. Under Choose your plan, each plan that covers your catalog has a Subscribe to Starter, Subscribe to Growth, or Subscribe to Scale button, and charges start as soon as you approve.
