Upgrade or downgrade your plan
You can move between the Starter, Growth, and Scale plans at any time from the Plans page in the Olvio admin. Shopify handles the billing: you approve the new plan on Shopify's approval page, and Shopify adjusts your charges. Your settings stay as they are, but some limits and features follow your new plan.
Switch to another plan
Open Plans in the Olvio app menu.
Above the plan cards, select Monthly or Yearly · Save 20%. The toggle starts on the billing option you pay today, and your new plan is billed on the option you select.
On the plan you want, click Switch to followed by the plan name, for example Switch to Growth.
Shopify opens its approval page with the new price. Approve the charge.
Shopify brings you back to the Plans page. Olvio switches your plan as soon as Shopify confirms the new subscription, usually within a few seconds. Once the switch is done, the Plans page shows the new plan with the Current badge.
The Plans page doesn't keep checking for the change. If it still shows your previous plan a few seconds after you come back from Shopify, open another page of the Olvio admin, then open Plans again. Don't click the plan's button a second time: that opens Shopify's approval page for a new charge.
If you decline on Shopify's approval page, nothing changes and you stay on your current plan.
If Shopify's approval page doesn't open and you see Unable to start the subscription flow. Please try again., your plan hasn't changed. Click the plan's button again.
Your current plan's button reads Current plan and can't be clicked. If the other billing option is selected, it reads Switch to yearly or Switch to monthly instead, or Catalog too large if your catalog has grown past your plan. See Switch between monthly and yearly billing.
A plan whose button reads Catalog too large can't be selected: your store has more products than that plan includes. The card shows how many products your catalog has and how many the plan covers. For this and other problems on the Plans page, such as an error message that keeps coming back, see Plans page problems: activation stuck or 'Catalog too large'.
How Shopify bills the change
An app can have only one active recurring charge on your store. Olvio doesn't cancel your current plan itself: when you approve the new plan, Shopify replaces your current subscription with it, in most cases right away.
According to Shopify:
Upgrade: the higher charge is prorated based on the price difference and the days left in your billing cycle.
Downgrade: you're offered an app credit based on the price difference and the days left in your billing cycle.
However, if you pay yearly and switch to a cheaper yearly plan or to a monthly plan, Shopify can defer the replacement, and the new price, to the start of your next billing cycle. Olvio moves you to the new plan as soon as Shopify confirms the new subscription, and the new plan's limits and features apply from then.
For how app charges appear on your bill, see Shopify's guide App charges on your Shopify bills.
Switching plans doesn't restart your free trial
The 14-day free trial applies only to your first subscription. Olvio creates every later subscription, including a plan switch, with no free trial days, even if you switch during your first 14 days. Your remaining free days don't carry over to the new plan: except in the yearly cases described above, Shopify starts billing the new plan when you approve it. The Plans page states it too: Switching plans afterwards does not reset the trial.
If you want to use your trial to evaluate Olvio, start it on the plan you expect to keep. See Your 14-day free trial explained.

For prices and the full comparison, see Compare Starter, Growth, and Scale plans. Here is what happens to each item when you switch:
Products: Olvio keeps syncing and answering questions about every product, whatever your plan. If the number of products Olvio has imported goes above your plan's limit, the Dashboard (click Olvio in the app menu) shows a banner such as You're over the Starter product limit, with a button that opens Plans.
Conversation history: when you move to a plan with a shorter history, Olvio's daily cleanup deletes conversations, shopper questions and questions on the Unanswered tab older than the new limit. What the cleanup deletes can't be recovered, even if you upgrade again. Dashboard numbers built from those conversations, such as Engaged visitors and Revenue with Olvio, can go down for the days concerned. See Read your Olvio dashboard: revenue, rates and date ranges. When you move to a longer history, the conversations you still have are kept for longer.
Knowledge files and web pages: on AI Setup, a counter under the Knowledge files and External web pages descriptions shows how many you use out of your plan's limit, for example
8/10. If you already have as many as the new plan allows, or more, nothing is deleted, but you can't add another until you delete enough to get below your plan's limit. See Add knowledge files and web pages to Olvio's knowledge base.Widget languages: Olvio applies the new language allowance automatically. On pages in a language your new plan doesn't serve, the widget uses your default language, unless you check Hide the widget on languages Olvio doesn’t cover in the Languages card on the Advanced tab of Appearance. On Growth, if you haven't chosen a second language, Olvio picks one of your other published languages that it supports. If you uncheck every language on Growth and save, your widget keeps serving only your default language after a move to Scale, and Scale has no language choice to change it, so check a language again and save before you upgrade. If you've already moved to Scale, contact us: see Contact us and support hours. When you move to a plan that serves more languages and you have a saved Anthropic API key, Olvio translates the Expert name and Hook question you wrote into your newly served languages among English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, if they aren't translated into them yet. See Multi-language: choose which languages your widget serves.
Olvio Advisor: if you move to Starter, Advisor links on your storefront no longer open the Advisor, and the Advisor page shows Advisor is available on Growth and above with a See plans button. Your chips are kept, but you can't edit them until you upgrade. When you move to Growth or Scale, make sure the Olvio Advisor app embed is on in your theme editor. See Turn on the Olvio Advisor and add Advisor links to your store.
What stays the same
Switching plans doesn't change your Anthropic API key or Claude model, your AI Setup content, your Appearance settings, the suggested questions you wrote on the Questions page, or the Olvio block in your theme. After the switch, Olvio updates your storefront widget with your new plan automatically.

Starter is the smallest plan: there is no free plan to switch to. To stop your subscription, see Cancel your subscription by uninstalling Olvio.
